Rawalpindi: Canadian High Commissioner Wendy Gilmour has said that her country supports Pakistan’s efforts towards utilising renewable energy sources like solar and wind, a news source reported.
She was addressing a function organized by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI). The event was aimed at bringing awareness regarding economic empowerment to women.
She said that the Canadian government is fully aware of the climate and environmental challenges faced by Pakistan. She said that plastic pollution is a global challenge that does not respect borders.
She expressed Canadian High Commission’s willingness to work with Pakistan on the shared responsibility to safeguard environment for generations to come.
She also lauded RCCI efforts to promote regional trade. She said that Canada fully supports increased regional trade and investment.
Speaking on the matter of Pakistani women, she said that it will be vital for a prosperous Pakistan to provide its women ample economic opportunities.
