Rawalpindi: The Ministry of Climate Change and the National Clean Air Production Centre recently launched a campaign to raise awareness against plastic bags use in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, a news source reported. The campaign formally kicked off on Tuesday (August 6).

The pilot project was launched at a park situated in Islamabad’s sector F-9. Members of the civil society, civic organisations, and students of Quaid-e-Azam University, University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila, Fatima Women University and FAST University participated in this campaign.

The members of this campaign shared details with the visitors in the parks on side effects of the plastic bag usage and importance of using carry bags made of fabrics. They also requested the visitors to share the information with their family and friends in a bid to promote the idea of using reusable bags instead of polythene bags.
The campaign members also distributed fabric bags among the attendees.
