Lahore: The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has obtained the provincial government’s approval for procuring a loan worth PKR 15 billion to launch a sewerage megaproject in the city – a news source reported. The Cabinet Committee on Finance and Development sanctioned the loan for the project’s development.

Under the project, for the first time in Pakistan, an 18-kilometre sewerage line will be laid between Larex Colony and Gulshan-e-Ravi.
A summary to this effect was previously sent to the Chief Minister’s (CM) Office by the Housing Ministry; in response to which the chief executive had approved the plans to obtain PKR 15 billion in loans from the Asian Investment Bank (AIB).

The project will be completed in two phases and, according to the authorities, this will be the first time in the country that the sewerage lines will be laid through tunnel boring and will not pose road problems for the public as has usually been the case.
