Islamabad: The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the formation of a Pak-Turk Strategic Economic Framework; a high-level committee with an aim to boost economic ties with Turkey – a news source reported. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

As per reports, the committee will comprise nine joint working groups formed to oversee various sectors of the economy. Over 70 actionable items have already been included into the committee’s framework; including technology transfer, defence cooperation, trade agreement, and technology transfer.
The decision to form this committee was agreed upon during the prime minister’s visit to Turkey in January during which he had met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Regarding this development, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan stated that the step aimed to strengthen Pakistan’s relationship with Turkey and to increase cooperation between both sides.
