Islamabad: The federal cabinet has approved the formation of the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority, a news source reported. This authority will be responsible for undertaking the incumbent government’s plan to build 135,000 housing units across the country.

The announcement of forming this authority had come in October last year. It plans to construct five million houses in the next five years. These housing units will facilitate the low-income segments of the country.
Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has reported that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan will inaugurate the project first in Islamabad, and then in Balochistan. He added that 25,000 houses will be constructed in the capital city, and 110,000 units in Balochistan.

Chaudhary also told that the government will build a special town, for Gwadar fishermen, under this scheme.
For NPHP, government will provide the required land. It will play the role of a regulator and facilitator to resolve any arising bottlenecks. It will offer a one-window facilitation centre for the public, private sectors, and non-profit organisations who will be executing this project.
