Islamabad: The federal cabinet has decided to remove restrictions with respect to the construction of high-rise buildings in the capital city, a news source reported.

Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry expressed his views on the matter. He was addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Tuesday.

He informed that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had advocated strongly for the vertical expansion of Pakistani cities. To facilitate this measure, the government has abolished NOC requirement for constructing high-rises in Islamabad. From now onwards, citizens won’t require a no objection certificate from the civic agencies concerned.

The minister said that the purpose of this policy was to facilitate the public at large, as well as direct foreign investment to the city. He remarked that this was an unprecedented step which would help address the issue of unplanned and illegal growth of cities in the country.

He further stated that laws were being formulated for constructing international standard high-rise buildings countrywide.
