Karachi: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) recently announced that it would plant 300,000 saplings at various airports across the country as part of its tree plantation campaign — according to a news report published on August 11.

Aviation Secretary Hassan Nasir Jamy inaugurated the monsoon tree plantation campaign at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. He stated that out of the total 300,000 saplings, 100,000 would be planted at the Jinnah International Airport. Additionally, the Islamabad International Airport management stated that over 12,000 saplings would be planted at the capital’s airport and its suburbs.

The Airport Services deputy director, CAA director general, and Airport Security Force (ASF) deputy director general were also present at the occasion. The CAA is carrying out this monsoon plantation drive in light of the government’s overall vision of a cleaner, greener Pakistan. This plantation drive will also help offset the carbon emissions created by airlines to a small extent. Moreover, these trees are expected to make a positive contribution to the various other plantation drives being conducted across the country.
