Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved a summary presented by the Higher Education Department for setting up Thal University in Bhakkar, a news source reported.

Further, the authorities concerned plan to convert the sub-campus of the University of Sargodha into the city campus of Thal University, Bhakkar. The University of Sargodha’s Bhakkar campus spans an area of 108 kanals.

While approving the summary, CM Buzdar expressed his hope that the university will provide higher education opportunities to the students of the region. For setting up this campus, the deputy commissioner of Bhakkar has been instructed to identify suitable land at the earliest.

Thal University would be established on an area spanning over 200 acres of land. As revealed by the CM, the provincial government has planned to set up eight universities and five educational institutes in Punjab on an annual basis during the next five years.
