Lahore: In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar, the plan to operate green electric buses in Lahore was approved in principle, according to a news source published on November 11.

CM Buzdar stated that Lahore Transport Company will be converted into Punjab Transport Company. He opined that these buses will prevent environmental pollution and help control smog levels. To this effect, the hiring of transport inspectors, sub-inspectors and sergeants was also approved.

Moreover, CM Buzdar stated that these Green Electric Buses in Lahore will be operated on a 103-kilometre-long route; divided into six routes. The transport department has been directed to review all the aspects of this initiative (including the purchase of electric buses). Depending upon the operation’s success, other cities might also be included in the operation.
