Gujrat: Punjab Revenue Authority Gujranwala has sealed a number of businesses in the city for non-payment of taxes, a news source reported. These included three beauty parlours and a marriage hall.
Records of some high-end restaurants and cafes in the city were also seized. These records will be perused to check for any discrepancies in tax payment. It is expected that this exercise will result in a recovery of tens of millions.
The crackdown against non-payment of taxes was launched against non-payment of taxes on the orders of Punjab Revenue Authority Additional Commissioner Sadia Akmal. Enforcement Inspector Ali Raza, and Khalid Bin Waleed conducted the operation throughout Gujrat.
The Excise and Taxation Department (E&T) had decided to take action against tax defaulters, last year. Then it was announced that the defaulters will be arrested and their properties will be attached. The E&T Department has also sent notices on the matter to thousands of defaulters.
