Karachi: The Sindh government’s Investment Department has established a ‘Doing Business Reforms Implementation Unit’ in the city, according to a news source. The provincial executive created this facility in its efforts to facilitate the launch of new businesses in the province.

The said unit consists of a director, two managers, and a communications officer. It will work with the government entities, private organisation, and other stakeholders to promote business activities in Sindh. It will also offer support and guidance for getting licences, permits, and other relevant permissions.

According to reports, the provincial government is working with the World Bank to improve the former’s ease of doing business initiative in Sindh and has taken numerous measures in this regard. With the World Bank helping all the provinces with such measures, Pakistan’s Ease of Doing Business Index has improved considerably – registering a 28-point (from 136 to 108) jump in a ranking of 190 countries.
