Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has approved the decision to establish a commercial district on Walton Airport land while the airport is to be shifted to a different area – a news source reported on February 26. Prime Minister Imran Khan is expected to inaugurate the project soon.

Set to be another mega project that will transform the face of Lahore, the Prime Minister will also establish a new Business District Authority for the management of this project. The authority will be led by Asif Janjua.

Located on Ferozepur Road, the project will be established on an area of 22 acres. The land where the business district is to be established belongs to civil aviation authority. Meanwhile. Walton Airport will be shifted to a different location after 91 years. It has been proposed that the airport should be transferred to the land adjoining the new campus of King Edward Medical College. Working papers for the transfer of the airport have been submitted to the government of Punjab.
