Islamabad: The citizens and business community have agreed to help the federal government make Islamabad a polythene-bag free city, a news source quoted the Ministry of Climate Change Secretary Hassan Jami.

The secretary shared this information while addressing a meeting held to discuss ways to discourage usage of polythene bags. Members and representatives of Islamabad Market Committee, Haftawar Bazaar Committee and Sabzi and Fruit Committee attended this meeting.
It was decided at the meeting that the ministry will start a campaign against the usage of polythene bags with the help of people representing the commercial markets and also start an awareness campaign in schools and colleges.

The chairman of Islamabad Fruit and Sabzi Mandi appreciated the government’s efforts and announced that the campaign against the usage of polythene bags will be launched in one week. The meeting also agreed to form fertilizers from the waste collected from the markets.
