Karachi: The Sindh government has allocated a budget of PKR 329 billion for the Annual Development Program (ADP) to PKR for the fiscal year 2020-21. (FY21), news sources reported.
As per the details shared, funds amounting to PKR 225.5 billion will be used for provincial development, while PKR 30 billion will be used for district’s development.

The foreign project investment and the Federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP)’s the grant of PKR 71.16 billion and PKR 5.4 billion, respectively, will be utilised for uplift initiatives by the province. Previously, due to the coronavirus epidemic, the development budget was lowered to PKR 160 billion out of a total budget of PKR 232.94 billion and is expected to be reduced further due to revenue constraints.

The following is a breakdown of the allocated annual development budget in Sindh:
• PKR 26 billion is allocated for the education sector including skill development programs
• PKR 571.971 million has been allocated for women development which is 62% higher than the previous year.
• The agriculture sector will get PKR 15.26 billion, a slightly higher figure than the previous year PKR 14.8 billion.
• PKR 6.935 billion has been allocated for the agriculture, supply, and prices department.
• PKR 2 billion is earmarked for the Culture and Tourism promotion
• PKR 175 million for the Board of revenue
• PKR 500 million for the Auqaf, Zakat, Ushr and Religious Affairs
• PKR 8.2 billion for the transport and Mass Transit Department with an additional PKR 20.6 billion from Foreign Project Assistance (FPA) making a total of PKR 28.795 billion.
