Lahore: The federal government is expected to present the budget for (Fiscal Year) FY2021-22 in the National Assembly during the first week of June, a news source reported on May 3. Similarly, according to the sources within the Punjab government, the provincial budget will be presented in the second week of June.
In an effort to formulate the entire budget on time, the Eid holidays for the provincial finance ministry’s officials have been cancelled. In addition, a complete ban has been placed on all transfers and postings in Punjab till the budget has officially been presented to the assemblies. As part of the budget preparation process, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar will be presented with a report regarding a proposed rise in the salaries of provincial employees.

Speaking to government officials on May 2, Prime Minister Imran Khan directed that special focus must be paid to development projects and on various measures to control inflation in the new budget — with a view to fulfill public needs.
