Islamabad: The federal government on Friday proposed the budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2020-21; which features significant funds allocations for the development of infrastructure within the capital city — according to news sources.

The budgetary documents show that the government has allocated funds for several mega projects. These include the following:
- PKR 800 billion for the construction of the Korang Bridge and PWD underpass on Islamabad Expressway.
- PKR 1 billion for the construction of 10th Avenue.
- PKR 300 million for the construction of a flyover and approach roads at Railway Line Sihala.
- PKR 500 million for the development of four union councils.
- PKR 400 million for executing the feasibility study for transfer of water from the Indus Water System at Tarbela Dam — with an additional PKR 3154.671 million earmarked for land acquisition for this purpose.
- PKR 81 million for the construction of a road from Darbar Sain Mirho to Shams Colony, Railway Road.
- PKR 50 million for the implementation of the second phase of the land revenue record management system in the city’s rural areas.
- PKR 75 million for the rehabilitation and construction of a road from Dhrek Mohri Chowk to Islam Market Mera Jaffar, Islamabad.

- PKR 200 million for the development of a water treatment plant on Korang River and Rawal Lake.
- PKR 121 million for the rehabilitation of roads in sectors F, G, H and I.
- PKR 200 million for the construction and upkeep of roads and pavements in the city.
- PKR 300 million for the development of various sanitation and water supply schemes.
The government has made these funds available for the development of the Interior Ministry’s mega projects under the Public Sector Development Programme — with the interior division having jurisdiction over the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, and the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).
