Islamabad: The federal government has reserved PKR 7.57 billion in its annual development programme for the Ministry of Climate Change, a news source reported. The funds will be used for the ministry’s existing and upcoming development schemes.

A major chunk of these funds will be spent on the Billion Tree Tsunami Programme. According to sources, PKR 7.57 billion will be spent on the Billion Tree project’s first phase. For the existing projects, the government has allocated PKR 6.42 billion.

As per the details shared yesterday regarding the Public Sector Development Programme, the government also has a plan in place to stop expansion of deserts. For this purpose, the allocated funds stand at PKR 25 million.

In addition to this, the federal government has allocated an amount worth PKR 1.5 billion for setting up the Climate Change Reporting Unit.
