Islamabad: The federal government has allocated PKR 4 billion for uplift projects in Gwadar as part of the Budget 2019-20, a news source reported. As per sources, the allocated funds will help develop the port city through the construction of a railway corridor, airport, fish landing jetty, desalination plant, and several other projects.

PKR 555 million will go towards the construction of New Gwadar International Airport. Out of this amount, PKR 200 million has been sourced from foreign aid. The newly announced budget includes PKR 800 million for the acquisition of land for the railway corridor from seaport and railway-operational land.
The government has allotted PKR 50 million for the Gwadar Safe City Project Phase-I. Additionally, it has assigned PKR 100 million for the Gwadar Smart Environmental & Sanitation System and Landfill, PKR 400 million for a seawater desalination plant with the capacity of five million gallons of water per day, and PKR 172 million for the construction of a fish landing jetty and allied harbour facilities at Pishukan.

Under the Federal Budget 2019-20, the government has also allotted funds for the following development projects:
- PKR 200 million for Modern Custom Collectorate
- PKR 20 million for animal quarantine
- PKR 425.5 million for the Pak-China Technical & Vocational Institute
- PKR 200 million for construction of Break Water Groyne Wall and allied work at Eastbay (Demizer)
- PKR 88 million for constructing the Senior Superintendent Police Lines Headquarter for National Highway & Motorway Police
