Peshawar: For reducing traffic load along the route of the under construction Bus Rapid Transit, Peshawar High Court has allowed the Traffic Police to use roads in Peshawar University for a limited time, reported a news report. In this regard, the court has instructed the Superintendent of Traffic Police to devise a traffic plan in consultation with the university management.
Reportedly, the Peshawar University administration had reservations against allowing the university roads to be used as alternate routes for the under construction roads as traffic load there is already high, while the representatives of Traffic Police told the court that development work on BRT is underway at a fast pace, which can be increased if traffic load is reduced on the road. The court concluded that using university area for diverting traffic for a limited period of time should be allowed.
