Peshawar: Development work on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system is in full swing, according to a news source. The project will assist in fixing the shortage of public transport facilities in the city and ease up traffic congestion.
The 26-kilometre long project will have 31 stations. It will start from Chamkani and end at Hayatabad while passing through the GT Road, Dabgari Gardens, Railway Road, Saddar, Stadium Chowk and University Road.
To ensure timely completion of the project, labourers will operate in three shifts, allowing development work to be carried out throughout the day and night, according to a Peshawar Development Authority official. In addition, the latest machinery, skilled workforce and experienced engineers have already been deployed for the project.
For BRT, the contract has been awarded to experienced companies including CRD21-Maqbool Calsons JV. Reportedly, the companies engaged for the project have already been working at metro bus projects in Lahore and Islamabad.
