Peshawar: The deadline for the completion of Bus Rapid Transit project in Peshawar being completed with the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) assistance has been extended till December 2021 – a news source reported.
Previously, the lender had declared that the project was on track. According to a report, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has so far received USD 290 million out of the total USD 330 funds sanctioned by the ADB for the project’s development.

Moreover, the provincial government has yet to utilise loans worth USD 150 million from the French aid agency, AFD, for the project’s execution.

As per the ADB’s report, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mass Transit Authority (KPUMA) was set to be established by December 2018, but it has not been formed so far. Similarly, the Trans Peshawar had to be implemented by July 2019, but that remains to be done as well.
