Peshawar: KP Chambers of Commerce & Industries (KPCCI) has demanded that businesspeople and industrialists affected by Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Peshawar project should be granted tax exemption from provincial taxes for the next three years, a news source reported. Other demands by KPCCI included demand for inclusion of KPCCI-nominated members in several regulatory boards of the government, and provision of water and gas connections to industries on priority.
It was also demanded that the industrial policy prepared in 2016 with the collaboration of KPCCI has not been implemented yet and that it should be implemented. All these demands were presented in the KPCCI meeting chaired by KPCCI President Faiz Muhammad.
It was decided at the meeting that coordination with other chambers of commerce in the province will be improved to resolve the issues of the business community of the province quickly.
Peshawar BRT deadline was recently extended to meet the construction and operationalisation requirements for the project.
