Lahore: The British Airways on Tuesday announced that it would initiate direct flights from Lahore to London’s Heathrow Airport from October 14 onward, according to news sources.

The UK flag carrier plans to run four flights per week from the next month. Reportedly, the British Airways has resumed flights to Pakistan after over a decade in June 2019 by launching direct flights from Islamabad – where it first began flight services in 1976.
Moreover, the British High Commission Islamabad has issued a statement saying that these flights will be operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (a wide-body jet airliner). The British High Commissioner to Pakistan Christian Turner called the initiative “a sign of confidence in Pakistan and the deepening ties between the two countries”.

British Airways Middle East and Asia Pacific Head of Sales Moran Birger said that these two flight operations will connect two of Pakistan’s biggest cities with London, and offer seamless transfer options to Manchester, Canada and the United States”.
Furthermore, the airline has sought confirmation from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport regarding the routine cleaning and precautionary measures against the prevailing COVID-19 infection – for the safety of the crew and passengers alike.
