Muzaffarabad: A bridge over the Jhelum River drew flak from the Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) opposition over it being named the ‘Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Bridge’. According to a news source, the cable-stayed bridge connects Chattar to Naluchi and neighbourhoods of Gojra.
Since the mid-80s, the foundation stone of the bridge has been laid twice, but construction could not begin because of various obstacles.
The news source reported further that the bridge had finally been openned for traffic after construction on the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr. However, the AJK administration’s notification about naming the bridge after Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto has drawn criticism from opposition parties Muslim Conference and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
