Lahore: Brick kiln owners across the country have announced their decision to not increase the rate of bricks in the upcoming season and requested the government to provide loans for shifting the kilns to zigzag technology in a bid to avoid any shortage of bricks in winters, according to a news report published on November 5.

The decision was made following an agreement reached between Brick-Kiln Owners Association Pakistan President Muhammad Shoaib Khan Niazi and Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal during a meeting held at the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) on Wednesday.

According to reports, Minister Aslam Iqbal issued directions for the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) to provide soft loans at the earliest to facilitate the upgradation of the kilns to the environment-friendly zigzag technology. He also warned that any brick kiln owners seen to increase the prices of bricks would face legal consequences.
