Gujrat: The Punjab Board of Revenue (BoR) has announced its decision to launch a massive data collection exercise in a bid to list the computerised national identity cards (CNICs) details of all landholders in its Land Records Management Information System (LRIMS), according to news sources.

The initiative aims to collect details of the landowners in a bid to curb the fraudulent practices of altering the land revenue records.
To facilitate this measure, the BoR secretary (taxes) has directed the additional deputy commissioners (revenue) concerned of all provincial districts to make arrangements for various communication channels in order to expedite the initiative.

To this effect, the official concerned has ordered the Arazi Record Centres (ARCs) to dedicate a minimum of two counters for CNIC registrations and biometric verifications. Further, the BoR secretary has directed the patwaris concerned to make public announcements in their revenue circles through the communication channels at their disposal.
In a related development, the department has stated that the issuance of fard (ownership document) and mutation will be subject to CNIC registration and biometric verification of the claimant.
