Sahiwal: The Board of Revenue (BOR) recently approved the construction of a 750-acre Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the division, a news source reported. As per the publication, the board, previously, had also approved the development of the Punjab Small Industrial Estate Phase II — spanning 100 acres — in the city.

Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SLCCI) President Sheikh Faisal Ikram stated that the chamber was playing an important role in the development of the Sahiwal division. He added that due to the special measures taken by the SLCCI, the BOR had approved the construction of the SEZ in the division.
The SLCCI president opined that the construction of the SEZ and the industrial estate would facilitate the industrialists, traders, and businesspersons in Sahiwal.

Ikram also revealed that construction work of the dual expressway from Sahiwal to the Samundari Interchange would begin soon. He added that after its construction, the travel time from Sahiwal to Lahore would become only one hour and forty minutes.
