Islamabad: On orders of Supreme Court of Pakistan, a high-profile meeting has been formed to look into issues regarding illegal and unauthorised construction activities in Islamabad’s Zones III and IV and Bani Gala, reported a news source. The committee will hold a meeting today, i.e. October 24, to decide on the mechanism to regularise construction in these areas.
The committee, which is being headed by the Interior Ministry, has the Capital Development Authority chairman, representatives from the ministries of housing and works, climate change office bearers, local government officials and Environment Protection Agency directors as its members.
The committee is to chalk out a plan for the future construction activities in Bani Gala and Zone III and IV if the law allows it and share it with the apex court in 10 days. Reportedly, a summary of proposal was submitted during the tenure of last government to regularise buildings in the area, but was rejected by the cabinet. The CDA was later ordered by Islamabad High Court to not regularise any structure throughout the capital and formed a commission to review the city’s master plan.
