Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning & Development Asad Umar on Wednesday formed two special bodies for the preparation of a programme to expedite the development of Gwadar Port and other projects in Balochistan, a news source reported.

Chairing a meeting on development work in Balochistan, the minister announced to form the two special committees. He highlighted that during the ongoing fiscal year, the federal and provincial government would spend a sum of PKR 200 billion on the development of the province.
Umar revealed that Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Dr Jehanzeb Khan would chair one committee, and Maritime Affairs Minister Ali Zaidi and Commerce Advisor Razak Dawood would co-chair the second one.
The Dr Jehanzeb Khan-led committee would make a plan for improving service delivery in areas of water resources, agriculture, tourism, roads, infrastructure, and energy. The co-chaired committee would devise a plan for the development of Gwadar Port.

The planning minister stressed on the development of southern Balochistan as per the directives of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. He assured the provincial government that his ministry would release the funds require for the development projects. He added that any plan for the province’s uplift would reach finalisation with prior consultation of all the stakeholders.
