The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa now seems focused on setting examples of good governance in the country as well as make the province sustainable. With distractions in the shape of protests and demonstrations subsiding, the government is now able to think more creatively and constructively to address the long standing issues of its people.
We have noticed the initiation of many fine projects in the province and with more prominent print coverage of these projects, people have a feeling that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is on the crossways to a prosperous change. One very appreciable step taken by the KP Government is that of planting trees in the province; a total of ONE BILLION TREES.
The concerned department has mapped the areas throughout the province where these trees are to be planted with special focus laid on areas that have suffered at the hands of timber mafia. The high quality wood sourced from trees in Kalam, Chitral, and Upper Kohistan, has brutally affected the topography of these area, causing a serious environmental damage. The KP Government has decided to attend to the matter on urgent basis.
In almost all regions of Pakistan, February and March are the planting months, so right now, trees are being planted in the pointed out areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. To make this #BillionTreeTsunami campaign as effective as the authorities have intended, the concerned department has chosen to plant saplings of Polai Eucalyptus, Tanap, Sheesham, Panata, Cyrus, and Cedar trees. These trees are home to this region and their uncontrolled and in many cases illegal cutting has reduced their number to a threatening extent.
Well, with 10 more days to go for February and the whole month of March, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has taken up the challenge to plant a billion trees in the province. According to sources, these plants have been bought and almost 250,000 have been already planted and there are 999,750,000 more to go. It’s a race against time and in any case, we will all win.
Well Done KPK Govt.
