In 2018, the Supreme Court (SC) had banned billboards and hoardings from public properties and roads in Karachi as well as in cantonment areas and housing societies. However, as per the details revealed, the order did not address outdoor advertisements protruding from the outer walls of private properties.
The SC has taken a suo motu notice and scheduled a hearing for Monday (today) on this matter. Meanwhile, Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani recently ordered the removal of all billboards, signboards, and other advertisement materials across the city.
