Islamabad: The federal government is expected to ‘make a big investment’ for the promotion of tourism in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), a news source quoted Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and GB Ali Amin Khan Gandapur as saying. He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with GB Governor Raja Jalal Hussain on Tuesday.

The minister stated that the executive was taking practical measures to harness the tourism potential of the region. He added that the government also planned to upgrade the Skardu Airport into an international-standard facility for the benefit of local and foreign tourists.
Both officials discussed the development projects underway in the region, including the construction of the Gilgit-Skardu Highway and Skardu Hospital.

Appreciating the federal government’s efforts for ensuring development, prosperity, and progress in the area, Gandapur cited that the government was also taking initiatives for facilitating foreign investment in GB.
In response, Governor Hussain expressed his appreciation for the government’s efforts for developing GB.
