Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Monday initiated its competitive bidding process for awarding the contract pertaining to the construction of an underpass on Faisal Avenue, a news source reported. The proposed facility, after its completion, will connect sectors G-6 and G-7 in the capital city.

The civic agency opened the bidding documents detailing the technical evaluation and recommendations submitted by four pre-qualified firms. It received the lowest bid, which was 2% below that of the total estimated cost of PKR 395 million, from Habib Construction Services.
As per reports, the CDA will continue to organise the bidding processes for several days in order to select the firm which proposes the lowest bid for carrying out the project’s construction.

According to the authority, construction of underpasses on the highway is mandatory under the Islamabad master plan. And the officials concerned plan to develop a total of three underpasses on the Faisal Avenue
The commuters using the said route experience frequent instances of congestion due to heavy traffic on a routine basis. To facilitate the travellers, the CDA had in April decided to construct the underpass to connect the city’s east and west parts.
