Islamabad: The Bhara Kahu bypass project cost has escalated by approximately PKR 1.5 billion after the scope of the project was expanded, as claimed by a news source on November 6.

According to the shared details, officials from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) stated that the project’s cost escalated surpassing the initially approved budget of PKR 6.5 billion, reaching a total expenditure of PKR 8 billion. During the bypass construction, additional necessary components were incorporated, leading to a rise in expenses.
A source revealed that the contractor, National Logistics Cell (NLC), responsible for the project, demanded an additional payment of PKR 1.8 billion from the CDA for the extra work performed at the request of the civic agency.

The CDA, in response, forwarded the proposed bill to a consultant for third-party validation. The consultant firm from the Punjab government endorsed the extra work and recommended the approval of PKR 1.5 billion.
