Islamabad: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (PM) on Capital Development Authority (CDA) Ali Nawaz Awan has announced that the construction work on 3.5-kilometre-long Bhara Kahu Bypass will commence in August, according to news sources.

As per the news reports, Awan said that the National Highway Authority (NHA) was the executing agency of the four-lane project. He also revealed that a project consultant has been hired for the timely completion of the project. The design of the flyover will be completed by the end of the month, he said. The special assistant was of the view that the completion of the project will ease the traffic congestion on Murree Road.
Additionally, Awan revealed that over a dozen megaprojects are in pipeline for the capital – to be launched in the upcoming fiscal year. He said that the development work on the stalled sectors E-12, I-12 and I-15 will also be launched soon. He added that he had PC-1 of 21 development projects have been prepared for which he seeks the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) funding.

Awan further said that the CDA has received instructions to resolve the cases of land affectees on an immediate basis. In a turn of events, he also said that the PWD underpass and Korang bridge will be constructed in the initial phase of the Islamabad Highway expansion project (from Koral to GT Road).
