Karachi: The Sindh government has announced plans to issue Benazir Hari Cards to farmers through Sindh Bank, as reported on October October 8.

According to shared details, a meeting chaired by Sindh Agriculture Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar updated him on the issuance of Benazir Hari Cards, designed to support farmers across the province. It was confirmed that the Sindh government and Sindh Bank had reached an agreement to facilitate the card distribution.
Minister Mahar announced that a launch ceremony for the Benazir Hari Cards will be held soon. In the initial phase, 298,000 registered farmers in Sindh will be eligible to receive these cards. The cards will be specifically issued to farmers who own up to 25 acres of land.
Beneficiaries of the Benazir Hari Cards will receive subsidies for essential agricultural inputs, including bardana (grain bags), seeds, fertilizers, urea, and pesticides. Additionally, the cards will provide financial assistance during natural disasters, further supporting the farming community.

Mahar also revealed that efforts to register an additional 1.4 million farmers in Sindh will commence shortly. He emphasised the Sindh government’s commitment to alleviating the challenges faced by farmers through the Kisan (Farmer) Card initiative, with Sindh Bank designated to produce the Benazir Hari Cards.
Project Director Liaquat Ali Bhutto disclosed that the Sindh government has allocated PKR 8 billion for the successful implementation of the Benazir Hari Card initiative, underscoring the government’s dedication to empowering the agricultural sector in the province.
