Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has divided the country into three zones and appointed a commissioner, deputy commissioner and assistant commissioner for each zone to take action against benami properties.
The Benami Act became operational last month after its rules were approved last month. The law allows tax officials to confiscate property, expensive vehicles and bank accounts registered in the name of fictitious individuals.
The authorities had to appoint commissioners and deputy commissioners under the Benami Act Rules to take action against benami properties.
The country has been divided into three zones:
- Zone 1 covers Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
- Zone 2 covers Punjab
- Zone 3 covers Sindh and Balochistan
One commissioner, deputy commissioner, and assistant commissioner inland revenue have been appointed for each zone.
