Islamabad: The construction work on the Bara Kahu housing scheme for government employees will begin soon, according to Secretary Housing and Works Dr Imran Zeb.
He was briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works regarding the development of various projects. He said that the construction agreement will be finalised within a week.

The secretary said there is a possibility of an increase in the prices of plots. He added that the project had remained in a stayed condition for the last 10 years. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) previously conducted an inquiry into the scheme.
Managing Director Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation Waseem Hayat Bajwa said that the prices are likely to change after the new construction agreement comes into effect.

He said that the original agreement was signed in 2009, with the project scheduled for completion within 24 months. But several legal issues had resulted in the project’s 10-year-long delay.
