Lahore: The breaking up of roads after they have been laid has been banned in Lahore, according to a news report. The ban was placed to stop the destruction of roads for utility lines or other infrastructure projects after the roads have been constructed.
Officials from Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA), Lahore Development Authority (LDA), and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) have decided to form a coordination committee for this purpose. The committee will make decisions about laying down of utility lines on newly made roads. No government department or agency will have the authority to break up roads without the permission of the committee.
