Karachi: Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon has imposed a 6-day ban on bathing and swimming at the beaches of Karachi keeping in view the forecasted and ongoing downpour in the city, according to news published on July 26.

The commissioner has imposed Section 144 on bathing at the beaches and on the entry of fishermen into the deep sea. Keeping in mind the high tides in the sea and ongoing heavy rains, commissioner office issued the notification. It stated that bathing, boating, diving, and swimming in the sea can be dangerous for citizens.

As per the notification, these activities will be banned for 6 six days, starting from July 26. The citizens of Karachi are requested to avoid heading to beaches to prevent untoward incidents. Moreover, the commissioner has directed the deputy commissioners and assistant commissioners to take strict action against violators. The notice mentions that the violators will be booked under section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
