Quetta: The Balochistan Government has approved the setting up of Emergency and 1122 rescue services in Quetta and along national highways in the province, according to a news source. It also decided to set up a dedicated directorate and task force for this purpose.
Officials made this decision in a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan. The authorities will launch Emergency and 1122 services within one month. They considered these services to be necessary for the province, and decided to initiate them in Quetta on an experimental basis. The assembly will receive a bill in this regard soon.
This service will be along the lines of the rescue services in Punjab and 495 people will be appointed. These appointees will be trained in Punjab. After it is tested for a month in Quetta, this service will launch in other cities of Balochistan. People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative Chief Executive Aziz Jamali told the meeting that work on establishing emergency centres along national highways linking Balochistan to the rest of the country would begin soon. The government has already released PKR 340 million for this purpose, which is expected to be completed in four years at a total cost of PKR 4 billion.
