Islamabad: Balochistan Finance Minister Zahoor Buledi on Monday revealed that during the first half of the fiscal year (2019-20), the Balochistan government managed to collect PKR 7.84 billion in tax revenue — estimated to be an increase of around 164% in revenue collection as compared to the corresponding figures of last year, according to news sources.
In a press briefing, the provincial minister said that the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) had collected PKR 4.90 billion in the same period of the fiscal year 2018-19. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to meet the PKR 21 billion tax revenue collection target set for the current financial year.

He further remarked that the government was now working on the digitisation of the land revenue record information system, to increase the revenue generation of the province. He added that there was also a plan to install an online taxation system for the provincial excise and taxation department.

These initiatives will help taxpayers to submit their taxes with relative ease, and bring transparency in the system. Minister Buledi also disclosed that additional laws were being drafted in order to increase tax collection from the real estate and rental industry sectors.
