Quetta: Balochistan Forest Secretary Mir Saeed Ahmad Jamali has announced the provincial government’s decision to plan 3.2 million saplings during the ongoing year– in a bid to increase the green cover and improve the air quality index of the province, according to news sources.

He further stated that the standing committee of the forest department had provided its approval to the implementation of the ‘10 Billion Tree Tsunami’ project.
While talking about the details of the plantation drive, Secretary Jamali said that the tenders have been issued in 33 districts. He further revealed that 1 million trees would be planted to celebrate the ‘World Forest Day’ and that cluster plantation work was underway across the province.

Secretary Jamali said that at present only 7% area of the province was under the forest department. He said that his department was striving to prevent illegal cutting of forests in the province.
