Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has started offering interest-free loans to individuals left unemployed in the wake of the ongoing coronavirus lockdown, a news source reported. Finance Secretary Noorul Haq Baloch stated on Sunday that the provincial cabinet has approved a plan in this regard; already operational in several districts. .

The secretary revealed that these interest-free loans would benefit around 30,000 youths facing unemployment. He said that the scheme was in line with Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan’s cash disbursement programme for 119,000 deserving families, under the Zakat fund with PKR 2 billion. Around 32,000 families would soon receive cash, he anticipated.

Baloch also stated that the government would soon set up another fund for providing health care facilities to the less privileged. He pointed out that the government is taking multiple steps to mitigate the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and that all these are executed as per the CM’s directions.
