Quetta: The Balochistan cabinet on Tuesday (February 1) approved the commencement of the health card scheme in the province with coverage of PKR 1 million, news sources reported. The said cabinet meeting also approved the launch of the Kissan Card and the Local Government Amendment Act.

To avail the healthcare benefits, the residents of the province will use Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) as a health card, according to a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo. This facility will cover a variety of diseases and disorders, improving healthcare access for underprivileged members of society. The healthcare system will be known as the ‘Balochistan Health Card,’ and it will be supported by the provincial government. A complete study of public and private hospitals will be conducted in this respect to determine their viability and capability. This will then be presented to the cabinet for additional consideration before being empanelled.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved the hiring of personnel for several departments to improve their performance and capability. Additionally, the same cabinet committee approved amendments to the Land Review Act, 1967; e-Stamp Roll, 2021; and Balochistan Fisheries Rules, 1971. To protect forests and wildlife, the provincial body also approved the draft of the Balochistan Forest Act, 2021.

Another draft bill was also approved for the industrial development and Balochistan Archaeology Rules, 2021. The meeting also approved the increase in the carriage contract fee for freight vehicles under the Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965.
