Once approved, the facility will provide PKR 1 million in annual health care for 1.875 million families. The approval of the health card facility for the province would cost the provincial government PKR 5.914 billion. The health card will cover outpatient departments (OPD), hospital stays, major surgeries, and other diseases at government and private hospitals across the province. The government had previously formulated the mechanism for the distribution of healthcare on the same pattern as Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), but it was later shelved.
