Quetta: Balochistan Transport Secretary Dr Muhammad Aslam Baloch announced on Thursday (March 16) the launch of the ‘Green Bus Service’ for the provincial capital and other cities, news sources reported.

Speaking to the media, Aslam Baloch said that the project would be completed on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. He added that in the initial phase, 16 buses would be operated on the Sariab Road and Baleli route. While in the second phase, the bus service will be expanded to other cities providing affordable and accessible transport for the citizens of Balochistan. He also highlighted that the government is working on similar projects focused on public welfare.

It is pertinent to note that the Green Bus Service project was finalized in August last year by Balochistan Public Private Partnership (BPPP) Board. The project is part of the 15 development projects under the PPP mode. Apart from the bus service for the provincial capital, other projects include a seven million-gallon-per-day solar desalination plant in Gwadar, the development of the Hub Special Economic Zone; and 100 MW solar parks in Hub.
