The bill had been submitted to the parliament for final approval, following which, the government would begin the process of digitising land in Balochistan’s major urban areas. According to the field law, the government will begin land digitalization in two parts, with the first phase focusing on Quetta, Gwadar, Jafarabad, and Pishin. The administration intends to solicit technical assistance from other provinces that have previously adopted the system. Parliamentary Secretary for Science, Technology, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Dr Rubab Buledi stated at a press conference that the project would make land records available to users not only at Patwaris’ office but also on the Revenue Department’s official website, where interested parties could easily check their land and property records.

It is worth noting that land digitalization was adopted for the first time in Punjab, where the government offered infrastructure and data management training for the old tax officers. The system is presently operating in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). Balochistan will be the most recent province to join the digitalization initiative.
