Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Jam Kamal Khan has approved a three-year health program under the provincial health department, titled the ‘Health Response Program’, to check the local spread of epidemics, a news source reported. He has also directed the authorities concerned to submit the PC-1 for the project.

Kamal approved the program in a meeting which thoroughly reviewed it. Provincial Health Secretary Dostain Jamaldini briefed the meeting. He said that the health program will be launched this year and will last until June 2023. It is estimated to cost nearly PKR 13.33 billion. The project will be executed with the cooperation from the federal government and various donor agencies.

An institute of vaccine development will also be established in the province under the program. He added that Balochistan will be the first province to introduce a program of this kind. He also briefed the meeting that the program aims to improve the health facilities provided to the citizens during natural disasters, among other things.
