The conference, titled ‘Balochistan’s Renewable Energy Journey: Making Accessible, Affordable, and Sustainable Power in the Province,’ addressed the province’s challenges of low electricity access, high electricity costs, and prolonged load-shedding hours.
In light of the recent increase in electricity prices, experts emphasized that the most effective solution to tackle these issues is to harness renewable energy sources near areas with the highest demand. They highlighted the untapped potential of Panjgur and Chagai districts in Balochistan for generating significant amounts of renewable electricity through wind and solar panels.

However, they expressed concerns that financial, administrative, and political challenges are impeding the utilization of these valuable resources to alleviate the ongoing power crisis in the province. The conference provided a platform to shed light on these issues and called for collaborative efforts among stakeholders at all levels of government, as well as non-governmental organizations like IDSP.
